Hey Ladies,

Moxy wants to encourage you to start your own networking group.  Believe it or not, we know that after moving to the big city to start your new, illustrious career that life can be quite lonely.  Not all co-workers want to socialize after work like your friends in college, and in fact a lot want to go home to their families.  So how can you meet people with similar interests to yourself?  In addition to joining already established groups or clubs, you can also start your own networking group.  This can be professional networking, and it can also be social networking.  How about starting a group for young accountants?  You don’t always have to talk about work, hanging out is cool.  Or maybe a poetrybook club?  You don’t need an officially reserved location to start, a bookstore or maybe a quieter coffee shop works.  Advertise the event on public sites such as craigslist.org, and then just show up!  Even if one or two people initially attend, that’s two new friends that you’ve just made, and those people know people who know people who…..

This is the title of Danya Steele’s Blog.  Her blog caught oureye because she was a mentee of a Moxy founder’s sister while she worked at HarlemLive (http://www.harlemlive.org/).  HarlemLive is an Internet publication created by the youth of NYC.  She is an incredibly talented and accomplished young woman, the type that we love to hear and write about.  Unfortunately she cannot finish her college studies due to her financial situation with no family to rely upon.  She has started a blog to help raise money for her to pay her delinquent educational bills and return to school.   Her blog is http://thebiggestfundraisingcampaignofyourlife.wordpress.com, and we’ve added it to our blog roll.  Just another way to help a young professional woman out.  Best of luck to her!

We have just released the second issue of Moxy.  It’s tons of fun.  We introduced our company to the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce and got great feedback.  There were a number of people looking to contribute articles or pics to the website; it was a great networking event.  We are so excited and have to buckle down an focus with keeping up with the demand.  Glad that things are working out for the magazine though!
